Training on drone technology held

The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Curriculum Development – Department of Educational Technologies, in cooperation with the Ibn Firnas Drone Center, concluded the “Drones Technology Event” in Muscat, last week. Over 100 people took part in this event, which is part of the National Science Week.

The two-day event including presentations and practical workshops on multiple topics of drone technology, its integration with school curricula, encouraging innovation, and providing opportunities for training and practical application for specialists in partnership with relevant institutions and bodies, in addition to ensuring safety and compliance with the laws and legislation regulating drone activity in the Sultanate of Oman.

The second day of the event included a discussion aimed to reach the best methods for adopting drone technology in the educational system, and to come up with practical recommendations for how students can establish it and prepare them for the future when they join higher education or when they engage in the labor market and entrepreneurship. In addition, the session aimed to contribute in identifying the basic requirements and capabilities through which the adoption of drone technology can be developed and facilitated in various sectors, including education.

The Ibn Firnas Center carried out a workshop on programming drones using Block and Python, including practical training. This was followed by a training workshop on the capabilities of drones in the technological and technical fields, in which the types of drones with advanced capabilities were presented, which is used in many scientific, practical, and military fields, in addition to presenting the most prominent examples and results carried out by the company for the benefit of many companies and institutions in the government sector.
