SCHUEBERFOUER RIDE ISSUE – An investigation is underway to determine the exact reason why a Schueberfouer attraction halted mid-ride on Saturday, leaving five passengers stranded in the air.
Luxembourg City officials said a “minor technical incident” caused the ‘Top Scan’ attraction to stop moving. City services and fairground workers intervened to restart the ride, allowing passengers to disembark safely. The Top Scan ride will remain closed until further notice.
MISSING PERSON – Nicolas Georges Wehenkel is missing since last Friday, 23 August. He was last seen in his home in Steinheim at around 6pm. The 42-year-old has short hair, is between 1.70m and 1.80m tall and has a slim build. He frequently travels between Echternach and Wasserbillig. Contact police on 244 72 1000.
ILLEGAL RAVE – Police broke up an illegal rave near the Upper Sûre Lake on Sunday afternoon. The incident first came to the attention of authorities on Saturday night, when residents called in multiple noise complaints. Due to safety concerns, police initially refrained from intervening. On Sunday morning, they hoped the crowd would disperse on its own. However, when this did not happen, police decided to take action, with 80 people leaving the rave peacefully.

TELEGRAM FOUNDER ARRESTED – French judicial authorities have extended the detention of the Russian-born founder and chief of Telegram Pavel Durov following his arrest in Paris over alleged offenses related to the popular but controversial messaging app.
SOLINGEN STABBING – German police confirmed that a Syrian national has given himself up and confessed to killing 3 people and wounding 8 in a knife attack on Friday night. The random attack took place in the western city of Solingen as thousands of people gathered at a street festival. Two men, aged 56 and 67, and a 56-year-old woman were killed, officials said. Four of the wounded remain in a serious condition.
ROCKET FIRE EXCHANGE – Israel launched air strikes into Lebanon on Sunday, claiming it destroyed “thousands” of Hezbollah rocket launchers and thwarted a major attack, while the Lebanese group insisted it had been able to deliver a drone and rocket barrage of its own. The exchange of fire appears to be a significant escalation in tensions in the Middle East since the 10-month long war began between Israel and Hamas.

Slot was serenaded by Liverpool fans before kick-off and goals from Luis Diaz and Mo Salah ensured the mood remained upbeat as Liverpool made it two successive victories under their new boss.
NO VERSTAPPEN WIN – McLaren’s Lando Norris stormed to victory at the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday clipping the wings of the flying Dutchman Max Verstappen’s who came in second. Despite raucous encouragement from a packed Zandvoort circuit, Verstappen could not extract enough from his Red Bull to compete with a recently upgraded McLaren that is beginning to look like the car to beat in Formula One.
