Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Lauds Sitapur’s ‘Drone Didi’ for Moder…

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh seized the spotlight once again during Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ session on Sunday with the Prime Minister engaging in an enlightening interaction with Sunita Devi, fondly known as ‘Drone Didi‘ from Sitapur.
Additionally, memories of a captivating photography exhibition in Varanasi were also shared by the Prime Minister during the 110th edition of his monthly radio broadcast.
In his conversation with Sunita Devi, Modi expressed interest in learning about her family and experiences. Sunita revealed that she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and hails from a family of four, where farming serves as their primary livelihood. Trained in drone operation at IFFCO in Prayagraj’s Phulpur area, Sunita’s first encounter with the ‘flying machine’ took place at Sitapur’s Agriculture Science Centre. Sunita elaborated on the theoretical and practical aspects, highlighting the comprehensive nature of her instruction. She emphasized the drone’s potential in mitigating challenges faced during the rainy season, particularly in pesticide spraying, citing her successful utilization of the technology on 35 acres of land.
Sunita underscored the positive reception from fellow farmers, praising the effectiveness and efficiency of the innovation. PM Modi, in turn, lauded her efforts, envisioning a future where ‘Drone Didis’ play a pivotal role in modernizing agriculture across the nation. The PM also highlighted the ‘NAMO Drone Didi’ scheme launched last year, and said that the initiative has brought changes in the lives of women living in rural areas.
The PM also reminisced about his recent visit to Varanasi, where he was captivated by a remarkable photo exhibition. He marvelled at the talent displayed by the youth of Kashi, emphasizing the transformative power of social media in enabling content creation and talent showcase.
Acknowledging the influential role of social media in contemporary society, PM Modi highlighted the National Creators Awards initiative, aimed at recognizing individuals leveraging technology for social change. Encouraging content creators to participate, he urged nominations for those making meaningful contributions to the digital landscape.
