How Worried are Drone Pilots About Data Security?

With a proposed ban on Chinese made technology, increased focus on drone tech by homeland security, and expanded use of drones by public safety agencies and large enterprise, drone platform data security has been in the news a lot lately.  Drone manufacturers are working to close any security gaps, publish audits, and emphasize the data safety that their platforms provide.

Drone platforms are getting more sophisticated, more useful, and more secure – and that’s all good news for the industry as the technology matures.  But despite all of the news stories concerned with data security, we wondered how many pilots were truly worried about it when they choose a drone?  That’s what we asked in our most recent DRONELIFE Minute Survey.

There are a lot of very significant drone business surveys, and a lot of very official forecasts for the drone industry.  The DRONELIFE Minute Survey makes no claim to be either – it’s a way for DRONELIFE to share some of the prevailing buzz that comes our way from readers on a variety of subjects, and for us to track changes over time on topics that we feel would be of interest to our readers and the industry. Recent surveys included pricing in the commercial drone space and the effect of the coronavirus on business at a point in time.
