Emirates Post and SkyGo team up for drone-powered logistics in Abu Dhabi. Deliveries will take place between ‘drone points’ in the Emirates.

ABU DHABI, UAE, Oct 14, (Agencies): Emirates Post Group (EPG) and SkyGo, an aerial logistics provider, have entered into a new agreement to introduce drone-powered logistics and delivery services within designated areas in Abu Dhabi. This collaboration is in alignment with EPG’s strategic vision of embracing drone-powered delivery services to revolutionize last-mile logistics, emphasizing speed, efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

This strategic partnership coincides with the official launch of the Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry (SAVI) cluster in Abu Dhabi, which aims to establish the city as a global leader in smart and autonomous vehicles, akin to Seattle or Toulouse. It’s set to drive advancements across various domains, including air, land, and sea. EPG’s partnership with SkyGo echoes this vision and underscores its commitment to supporting the nation’s sustainable development goals through the creation of an advanced, sustainable logistics ecosystem.

EPG envisions the establishment of a seamless network of drone points, powered by SkyGo, to enhance the speed and efficiency of delivering postal items and small parcels through their postal and express business, managed by Emirates Post. This approach is expected to significantly improve accessibility to remote areas, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance delivery times, thereby better-serving customers and communities.

Abdulla Mohammed Alashram, Group CEO of Emirates Post Group, expressed his excitement about this collaboration and emphasized their commitment to advancing the logistics industry. He mentioned that, following successful trials of short-range and long-range drone deliveries, Emirates Post is ready to operate between designated spots in Abu Dhabi. He also stressed their focus on refining delivery routes and enhancing operational efficiency to provide drone delivery services as a commercial offering, emphasizing their commitment to sustainable, technology-driven growth.

Mohamed Al Dhaheri, a Board Member at Skygo, emphasized the future-oriented nature of this partnership, which combines cutting-edge technologies with efficiency and sustainability, aiming to deliver a brighter future for Abu Dhabi and beyond.

As part of this partnership, EPG and SkyGo will identify strategic customers for the commercial adoption of drone delivery solutions while ensuring strict adherence to aviation and drone usage regulations. Additionally, they will collaborate on research and development projects related to drone technology to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

Furthermore, EPG announced another significant collaboration with Dronamics, the world’s first cargo drone airline and a leader in cargo drone technology. Both parties have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to explore innovative logistics solutions through advanced cargo drone capabilities in the UAE.

This LoI marks the commencement of a dynamic partnership that is set to redefine cargo drone delivery in the UAE. EPG will explore and test Dronamics’ cargo drone service to facilitate middle-mile and long-range deliveries on the same day. The two organizations will work together to create a comprehensive cargo drone delivery network in the UAE and GCC. Once successfully tested, EPG intends to integrate this groundbreaking technology into its logistics network and make it available to the wider logistics industry. EPG also aims to be a launch partner for the future Dronamics UAE Joint Venture to support the expansion of cargo drone operations in the region.

Abdulla Mohammed Alashram emphasized that this partnership with Dronamics will play a pivotal role in advancing autonomous cargo drone transportation, boosting delivery speed, sustainability, and efficiency.

SvilenRangelov, CEO and Co-Founder of Dronamics, welcomed the partnership with EPG as a significant opportunity to expand their presence in the Middle East and the UAE, as they work towards implementing their unique middle-mile cargo drone technology in the UAE market. This partnership is a crucial step in achieving their vision of enabling same-day delivery for everyone everywhere.

As part of the LoI, Emirates Post Group will enable Dronamics to conduct Proof-of-Concept (POC) flights in the UAE using at least one drone aircraft by 2024. This strategic partnership will support EPG’s efforts to enhance the overall delivery supply chain of logistics operations in the UAE.
