#TECH: Learning how to be photo microstockers | New Straits …

KUALA LUMPUR – Over 100 photography enthusiasts attended a stock photo workshop organised by Microstockers Malaysia at i-Space, Menara Vads, Taman Tun Dr Ismail recently.

This is the first time such event was organised to educate members and fellow photographers how to market and sell their photos online.

The one-day workshop features eight stock photo experts in various fields of photography. Among them include Abdul Latif Omar (concept and studio photography), Farizon Amrod (illustration vector), Faiz Zaki and Mawardi (lifestyle and model photography), Hendrik Sulaiman (drone photography), Hafidz Abdul Kadir (timelapse and hyperlapse), Muhammad Ezairi (tourism video) and Mahathir Mohd Yassin (microstock discipline).

Mahathir, who is also Microstockers Malaysia’s founder, said the participation for the workshop is very encouraging with all 96 slots taken within six hours. Microstockers Malaysia is one of the largest stock photography communities in Malaysia.

“This stock photography workshop is designed for those who have been in the photography line for quite some time and already understood the basics of photography,” he said.

“Through this programme, we hope to share techniques and tips so that participants can generate income through their photos,” he said, adding that participants were also taught on the rules and do’s and don’t’s of stock photography.

Laboo Studio’s owner, Hamidi Izwan, who is also the co-organiser of the event, says the event also acts as a platform to strengthen the relationship among members, and also as a small reunion from the previous photography outings.

“We the success of this event, we hope to extend it to Sabah and Sarawak soon,” he said.
