SimActive Software Used for Photogrammetry Project with Larg…

Today SimActive., a world-leading developer of photogrammetry software is being use for a large-scale project by First Base Solutions who provides aerial imagery, geospatial data and custom mapping solutions to organizations across North America.

The size of each image consisted of MB totaling 40 TB of raw data.

As Drones are used for more and more applications, the amount of data used to many applications continues to grow as the level of detail increases, and the scale and scope of the projects become larger.  We recently have published more information on SimActive here.

Below is the press release from SimActive that was announced today.

Montreal, Canada, November 27th, 2018 – SimActive Inc., a world-leading developer of photogrammetry software, is pleased to announce the use of Correlator3DTM for a large-scale project by First Base Solutions.  The software allowed the processing of 50,000 large-format images at 200MP, collected at a 10cm resolution, on a single standard PC.

The size on disk for each image consisted of 765MB, totaling 40TB of raw data. Aerial triangulation was performed and DSMs, DTMs and orthomosaics were created, leading to more than 100TB of outputs.

“We are impressed by the software speed and capabilities on large datasets”, said Brian Leggat, Project Supervisor of First Base Solutions.  “Another advantage is SimActive’s support to quickly help us during our projects.”

“First Base has been a user of the software for more than 10 years”, said Dr Philippe Simard, President of SimActive. “The continuous appreciation from such a leading mapping firm for over a decade clearly demonstrates the quality of our solutions.”
