West Bengal to upgrade drone manufacturing R&D facilities

Kolkata, July 9 (KNN) West Bengal government is focusing on setting up a task force to upgrade the Research and Development facilities pertaining to drone manufacturing. 

The State is keen on collaborating with premier institutions like the IITs to ensure technical excellence in the era of drone warfare, said Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi on Friday. 



He was addressing a session defence manufacturing sector of the state organised by the state government and the CII at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan.

Principal Secretary of MSME Department Rajesh Pandey appealed the CII to hold interactive sessions with MSMEs, ordnance factories and sectors involved in the defence supply chain. 

“It will help to integrate the nascent units into operational ones,” he added. 

Lt General Kalita lauded the efforts of the state government on mobilising defence equipment in the east. 

He highlighted major requirements by armed the forces in terms of surveillance instruments, sustainable solutions and drone technology among others.
