ROP using drones to ensure people maintain social distancing

Muscat: Teams deployed by the Royal Oman Police are piloting drones that can provide them a wider view of public areas in Muscat, helping them ensure people maintain social distancing to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

A statement from the Royal Oman Police said, “The Royal Oman Police uses the drone remote control aircraft technology to guide and enable people to stay away from the dangers of gathering in public places, to prevent and limit the spread of the coronavirus.”

Oman’s Government Communications Centre added that the “Royal Oman Police had taken up the employment of drones to direct people and alert them to move away from gatherings in public places in order to limit the spread of COVID-19.”
