Kratos, AeroVironment to Collaborate on Multidomain UAS Tech…

Kratos Defense & Security Systems has partnered with AeroVironment to develop an demonstrate a multidomain unmanned aerial system designed for near-peer, denied environment operations.

Initial work will focus on demonstrating the potential of an integrated approach to launch, communicate and manage a small, tube-launched loitering aircraft deployed from a larger runway-independent unmanned aircraft, Kratos said Tuesday.

Trace Stevenson, vice president and deputy general manager of AeroVironment’s UAS business, said the companies plan to integrate AeroVironment’s small unmanned aircraft and tactical missile systems with Kratos-built drones.

“We aim to demonstrate the deployment of large quantities of smart systems that overwhelm and disable enemy systems, while bending the cost curve to make it financially prohibitive for unfriendly nations to challenge our armed forces,” Stevenson added.
