Last week’s InterDrone convention hosted among the best drone movie festivals within the business – and the work on show was superb.

This 12 months’s contest had 7 classes and supplied one thing spectacular for everybody, in all places, thinking about drones.

In the Natural Wonders class, submissions featured beautiful scenes from all over the world, together with New Zealand, the US, and Switzerland: UK artist Greg Leighton gained for gorgeous footage in “The Philippines By Drone.”

The Humanitarian class supplied superb views of Hurricane Matthew, whales, a cattle feedlot, and the Ecuadorian earthquake.  US-based Nelson Aerial Productions gained for his or her haunting piece “The Aftermath – Hurricane Matthew.”

In Cityscapes/Architecture, fascinating views of Bulgaria, Greece, Pennsylvania and a thought-provoking piece displaying an deserted and overgrown Psych middle competed with successful US-based artist Mark Tammy’s “A New Day in San Francisco.”

Action/Extreme Sports didn’t disappoint.  Underwater footage displaying a photographer surrounded by sharks – who would possibly deserve a medal simply because -competed with “Basejumping in Norway,” drones nabbing ocean poachers, and a desert ATV.  The successful “Poseidon,” by Air Reel Productions, takes the basic surfer and wave movie to an entire new stage.

The Industrial/Commercial, Real Estate, and Reel classes all supplied beautiful work.  Lush agriculture featured in “Beauty & Bounty” by US-based Doug Armknecht, winner within the Industrial/Commercial class and grand winner of the competition.  The vibrant colours in Jeff Fidelin’s successful “Acqualina Hotel and Spa, Miami FL” have been a spotlight of a set of gorgeous actual property items; and France’s Athenium Films gained within the “Reel” class for footage that lined a surprising number of settings, from high-rise buildings to the seashore.

As the drone business matures, drone movies are getting higher and higher – and are nicely value watching.   You can see the entire finalist’s work on the InterDrone web site, right here.
