The Drone that Flies Itself Hoverair X1

Zero Zero Robotics, a tech company specializing in embedded AI technology, has unveiled the HoverAir X1 – a compact and autonomous aerial camera that takes the art of drone photography to new heights. The HoverAir X1 offers users  features ranging from pre-programmed flight modes to stabilization technology, all bundled in a pocket-sized device.

Weighing in at a mere 125g, the HoverAir X1 has an enclosed design for safety, allowing it to be flown around people with confidence. Its foldable frame ensures portability, easily slipping into a pocket or bag.

One of the standout features of the HoverAir X1 is its autonomy. Zero Zero claims that the drone flies itself: users can set up shots and start recording effortlessly. Even more intriguing is the ability to pluck the drone from the air when its job is done.

The HoverAir X1 offers an array of advanced flight modes for various creative needs. Users can choose from pre-programmed options like “Hover,” “Follow,” “Zoom Out,” “Orbit,” and “Bird’s Eye,” each mode offering distinct perspectives and capturing angles that were once only possible with intricate maneuvers.

The Hover Air X1s ultra-lightweight design avoids registration requirements for recreational use (Note: Part 107, commercial users always need to register their aircraft: and all users must check regulations before flying.  New pilots refer to FAA  for more information.) The HoverAir X1 incorporates Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) technology and a Time of Flight (ToF) laser altitude determination system, allowing for precise control and seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor environments without relying on GPS satellites.

For content creators, the HoverAir X1 offers video recording capabilities, including 2.7K@30fps, 1080p@60fps, and 1080p HDR video recording, all supported by a robust hybrid stabilization system. The included companion app allows users to fine-tune flight parameters, edit media on the go, and share their creations effortlessly on social media platforms.

The HoverAir X1 comes in two packages – the standalone device and a Combo package that includes an extra battery and charging hub. During the promotional period, running from August 15 to September 15, 2023, the HoverAir X1 can be purchased for $329 USD (MSRP: $349 USD), while the Combo package is available for $379 USD (MSRP: $399 USD).

Zero Zero Robotics was founded in 2014 by Stanford PhDs MQ Wang and Tony Zhang.  The HoverAir X1, launched on Indiegogo in May 2023, and is now available for direct sales.
