The defenders of Ukraine now have an “invulnerable” drone

The defenders of Ukraine are getting ready to start using Elf – a small drone, developed by the Ukrainian company ELF-systems. The first example will soon operate in the Kharkiv region. Soldiers emphasize the convenience of this system and good protection against electronic warfare systems.

Drones have become an indispensable means of defence and offence for the Ukrainian forces. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have now received a new drone called Elf which will now help destroy the Russian attackers in the Kharkiv region.

According to Vladimir Varvansky, CEO of the Ukrainian company ELF-systems, the Elf drone can remain in the air for up to two hours, flying deep into the enemy’s territory.

The drone operator added that it is currently difficult for the Ukrainian military to use drones in the frontlines because of the enemy’s numerous electronic warfare and intelligence systems. Russians are using jammers that sever the connection between the drone and the pilot and cause the little aircraft to lose itself and crash.

The main advantage of the Elf is its good resistance to electronic attacks, which means it can fly where Russians have successfully blocked other drones. In addition, such a small drone is difficult for the enemy to spot and take down.

The drone operator also underlined another useful feature of the Elf – this drone is easy and quick to assemble and launch from any field. In addition, Elf has reliable navigation and communication systems.

“Thanks to the speed of assembly and navigation, our soldiers can quickly find and destroy the enemy. This bird has already flown to Kharkiv in a way that causes problems for the Russian invaders,” the report reads.

The manufacturer ELF-systems points out that the Elf’s size helps the drone remain undetected, as radars interpret it as a large bird. The Armed Forces of Ukraine may use Elf drones for reconnaissance and artillery fire correction, but they can also determine the coordinates of enemy equipment with an accuracy of 1 meter even in difficult weather conditions.

Elf characteristics:

  • Length: 1.12 m;
  • Wingspan: 2.1 m;
  • Take-off weight: 6.2 kg;
  • Maximum load: 2.2 kg;
  • Cruise speed: 85 km/h;
  • Max speed: 140 km/h;
  • Endurance: 2 hours;
  • Range: up to 150 km;
  • Motor: electric, 1200 W;
  • Normal flight altitude: 800-1000 m;
  • Flight ceiling: 3.5 km.

Drones are incredibly important for Ukraine. They are used everywhere and the defenders of Ukraine employ many different kinds of drones. Some kamikaze-style drones are smashing Russian trenches and armored equipment, some are just conducting observations.

It is very important that Ukraine has the ability to produce drones and the Elf from ELF-systems shows that small drone production in Ukraine can be established during the war as well.
