Singaporean Drone Company Will Take on Asia’s Ring of Fire

Singaporean company Drone Solution Services has announced the launch of “24/7 Unmanned Search & Rescue Services” – a solution to provide emergency services around the Ring of Fire – a 25,000-mile region encompassing the Asian side of the Pacific Ocean where numerous earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur.

When fully deployed, the program – announced at the recent Unmanned Systems Asia 2019 Exposition – would provide first-response measures to disasters in less than one hour, including surveillance, mapping and broadcasting live situational awareness to a command center while autonomous assets race to the scene for more support.

A DSS release adds:

“When a disaster occurs, response success is measured in days with a response time of three days being considered a successful response. Drone Solutions does not [subscribe] to this outdated adage. Its application of innovative drone technology will ‘turn the clock back’ such that the norm will diminish to not more than 24 hours.”

The subscription-based service – a kind of 911 coverage – will be offered to  governments and non-governmental organizations as well as multi-national corporations and military forces operating in the greater ASEAN + 2 Region.

Last month, DSS announced the launch of the Centre of Drone Excellence.

The Centre will be staffed with engineers from several drone-related disciplines including mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, AI, acoustics/sonar and robotics engineering. It will cover the local interests of international companies having advanced aerial, undersea and terrestrial based drone technologies and associated products; providing them with marketing, sales, technical presence and engineering support in greater Asia.

The announcement continues to highlight the growth of the drone industry in Singapore.

In February, Airbus and Wilhelmsen launched a drone-delivery project based out of Singapore. A test flight launched from Marina South Pier and the autonomous drone flew along almost one mile through a pre-set flight corridor from land to a tug supply vessel, successfully dropping a three-pound cargo payload.
