Reuters is reporting this morning that General Electric is testing autonomous drones to examine refineries, factories and railroads. The checks are a primary step in exploring the chance to seize a slice of the inspection market, estimated to be ~$40 Billion enterprise.
Reuters experiences that “GE is expected to announce the new business, which is focused on the oil and gas, transportation and power sectors, as early as Tuesday at a conference in Berlin, Germany” and that “GE said its Avitas business will combine computer analytics and artificial intelligence with its knowledge of the industrial systems it builds and its existing inspection business.”
