G7 Leaders Declare Solidarity For Israel: Allies Help Interc…

By Janet Ekstract ISTANBUL – U.S. President Joe Biden called an Emergency Meeting on Saturday night to convene with G7 leaders in the wake of Iran’s multi-drone and missile strike on Israel Saturday night that set off a multitude of air sirens in Israel. Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari told the press: “The Iranian threat met the aerial and technological superiority of the IDF, along with a strong fighting coalition – which together intercepted the overwhelming majority of the threats. 99% of the threats launched towards Israeli territory were intercepted – a very significant strategic achievement.” Meanwhile, the White House is said to be taking a “wait and see” approach on what Israel may do next though as National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told ABC’s this week with George Stephanopoulos: “I’m seeing an extraordinary night with extraordinary results,” there was a lot of coordination, he added. Kirby reiterated that “The president made clear since October 7, he’s trying to keep this from being a wider international war.” What happened during the drone attack proves, Kirby highlighted is that “Israel does have superior military ability” and that “Israel is not alone.” He added that Iran is increasingly isolated in the region and reiterated that “We don’t seek a wider conflict.” Kirby praised Biden’s leadership while analysts pointed out Jordan’s role in assisting to intercept over 300 drones and missiles along with other U.S. allies. When asked about the latest news on ceasefire and hostage negotiations, Kirby told George Stephanopoulos that negotiations wrapped up a week ago in Cairo. Kirby said a proposal is “on the table led by CIA Director Bill Burns,” adding “it’s a good deal it’s up to Hamas, we want them to take that deal.” Kirby said the deal would include a six-week ceasefire.

The latest development on Sunday from Iran is a formal statement through its mission in New York, that read in part: “The matter can be deemed concluded.” “However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe. It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the U.S. MUST STAY AWAY! Meanwhile, a statement on behalf of the High Representative of the EU on Sunday afternoon stated in part: “The EU condemns in the strongest terms the Iranian drone and missile attacks against Israel” While the statement went on to highlight the “unprecedented escalation and a threat to regional security”- the EU statement made clear that “The EU reiterates its commitment to the security of Israel.”  It added that “further escalation can be no one’s interest,” calling on “all parties to exercise utmost restraint.” The statement added that the EU is “fully committed” to assist in “de-escalation and the security of the region.” Stephanopoulos also interviewed CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on his views about the Middle East situation and the global situation. As Zakaria weighed in on the world’s current conflicts, he said “There’s a cultural dimension to this, adding that certain countries “don’t like American values.” He added: “It’s up to the West to lead the way.” – “Can the United States keep the West together, continue to believe in our values and keep the West together?” Zakaria said that leaders like Putin and Xi see Western liberal values as a barrier to their influence and said the question is “Are we going to fight back?”
