Polish autonomous drone startup Dronehub is teaming up with European property monitoring company RCS Engineering to develop a security system that marries security-detection and drone tech.

With the new integration, RCS’s breach detection software would trigger autonomous drones to respond to property invasion incidents, reducing the cost of manned security. Think of a guard dog with wings.

“Cooperation with RCS Engineering is another step in the development for Dronehub and a confirmation that the future in the monitoring of industrial and private areas is technology based on drones,” Dronehub CEO Vadym Melnyk said.

“The systems of both companies are based on modern technology, autonomy and extraordinary functionality—the integration of these systems will create a completely new quality and opportunities in the facility and property protection industry.”

The marriage of both companies will combine drone solutions provided by Dronehub with the RCS’s building infrastructure management software. Sensors placed around a fence will alert security personnel of any threats.

“The signal will be received by the drone, which will autonomously direct itself to the indicated place and send the image and information about the security breach to the application,” Melnyk said.

“This will allow manual workers to take appropriate security measures. This innovative solution will increase the security of the facility while reducing costs and human labor.”

“We have long been looking for new development paths and solutions that would meet the requirements of strategic clients,” RCS Engineering managing director Marek Majchrzak said.

“Knowing our product and huge functional possibilities, we were missing a modern technological partner in the UAV sector. Dronehub has just created the complete product we were looking for.”

Last year, Dronehub raised $516,075 in pre-seed funding, allowing it to scale its autonomous drone-in-a-box solution globally. This funding round was led by private investment groups.

Drone in a box

The drone-in-a-box paradigm is as simple as it sounds – a self-contained platform that can automatically launch several drones on almost continuous mission profiles and provide a constant trickle of charging power, often autonomously or semi-autonomously. The idea? Push a button and the drone in a box does the rest.

While use cases span the spectrum of applications such as inspection and surveying, most DIB mission profiles focus on drone security. “Aerial watchdogs” can patrol sensitive facilities or critical infrastructure such as nuclear power plants, military outposts, ports and government complexes on an automated schedule. These systems can also conduct autonomous inspection missions for farms, mines and constructions sites.
