Atlas Named Silver Winner of the 2020 Edison Awards: AtlasME…

The commercial drone industry has a consistent bottleneck: endurance.  Inexpensive and environmentally clean battery powered drones have short flight endurance. Drones that utilize other power sources may have their own disadvantages: size, price, fuel availability or form.   There have been many approaches to solving the problem: now Atlas, an automated drone system and software provider manufacturing in the E.U., has been named silver winner of the 2020 Edison Awards in Aerospace and Innovation for their unique approach.

Rather than focus on fuel, AtlasMESH solves the problem of mission endurance directly: by “hot-swapping” drones, allowing battery powered drones to work in relay – which lets customers keep a drone in the air 24/7. It’s a solution that resonates with customers: “We are growing, selling and delivering more systems to defense forces and rescue teams, fostering new partnerships and improving our man-unmanned teaming capabilities to fit with the new challenges of defense and security forces around the world,” says Guy Cherni, Atlas Co-founder and CMO.

The following is an Atlas press release.

Gaithersburg, Md. (April 16, 2020) – Atlas, a global leader in autonomous unmanned aerial systems (UAS), announced that it has been named a Silver Edison Award winner in the category of Aerospace and Innovation, subcategory: Communications, Sensors and Logistics for its AtlasMESH Multi-UAS Technology.

AtlasMESH  is defying and redefining the “endurance paradigm”, enabling 24/7 eyes in the sky utilizing multiple hot-swapping drones, that leverage relay technology to deliver BVLOS mission consistency for hours.  This solution creates unique man-unmanned teaming capabilities that achieve greater mission effectiveness, deliver cost savings and provide the data needed to rapidly make life-saving mission-critical decisions.

“This recognition by the Edison Awards proves the tenacity of our team and the positive results that we’re delivering for our customers that are saving lives and delivering on mission objectives,” said Ivan Tolchinsky, founder and CEO at Atlas. “Our team continues to prove that we’re changing the paradigm of UAS technology, and creating a new gold standard around the world with cutting-edge innovation.”

“After a thorough review, the Edison Awards Judges recognize AtlasMESH as a game-changing innovation standing out among the best new products and services launched in their category,” said Frank Bonafilia, Executive Director of the Edison Awards.

The Edison Awards are the global leader in recognizing, honoring and fostering innovation and innovators that are creating a positive impact in the world. The Awards are one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the name of successful innovation and are named after Thomas Alva Edison whose extraordinary new product and market development methods garnered him 1,093 U.S. patents and made him a household name around the world.

Among the nomination entries comprising the best products, services, and businesses in innovation for the year 2020, AtlasMESH was chosen as a winner by a panel of over 3,000 global business executives. Atlas has already received several recognitions for its innovative aerodynamic design this year, including a coveted Red Dot Product Design Award and Good Design Award.

Atlas is a world-leading aerospace company that is redefining the unmanned industry with smart, connected and cost-effective UAS, that can work autonomously together in fleets, enabling the operator to focus on mission objectives. Atlas’ proprietary and award-winning multi-point communication technology, AtlasMESH, enhanced with artificial intelligence, enabling smart mission distribution, flight optimization and data understanding. The company designs and manufactures its product in the E.U. and provides its technology to leading NATO governments, first responders, and multibillion-dollar corporations in the fields of security and industry.
